The Gini index represents how equal the distribution of wealth is within a group or a country, ranging from 0 to 1: (1 would mean a single person owning everything; 0 would mean everyone would own the same share of national wealth). The closest to 1 it gets, the greater is the difference between the poorest and the richest people in the same coutry. The closest it gets to 0, the better the wealth is distributed among the people. Data improved from precedent versions thanks to the Wolfram Alpha Database. For suggestions, comments, etc. contact me at Alvyfirstname.lastname@example.org.
